Day 43: How to Make a Primitive Weapon…
The Survival Spear:
Protection, Hunting, Reach — From Just a Stick
When danger walks on two legs or four, or you need to bring down food from a distance, a spear gives you reach and power without needing bullets or blades.
What It Does
Lets you hunt small to medium game
Defends against predators or threats
Gives you reach to strike without getting close
Can be used for fishing, digging, or support
How to Make It
1. Find the Right Stick
Look for a sturdy branch, shoulder-height or longer, straight, and not rotten. Hardwood is best.
2. Sharpen the Tip
Use a knife, sharp rock, or even friction on a rough stone to carve a point.
3. Reinforce It (Optional but Smart)
Split the tip into quarters and wedge sharp stones or smaller sticks in the gaps. Tie it tight with cordage, vine, or shoelace to form a 4prong spear great for fishing.
4. Test It
Thrust it into soft ground or a log. If it bends or breaks, remake it. If it sticks and holds, it’s good to go.
Tips
Keep it nearby while sleeping outdoors
Practice throwing or thrusting — it’s a skill
Can double as a walking stick or digging tool
Bottom Line
You don’t need steel to be dangerous. Nature gives you the tools survival gives you the reason.
